A Message From Jett
“I think this will be one of the greatest festivals we’ve ever had,” said Jett. “I know it will have the greatest collection of country singers that has ever been on the Georgiana stage.
“Not only is it going to be great, it’s so different.
“David McCormick of WSM in Nashville is coming down to tape the show for broadcast on the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree. It will go out world wide. Don’t you think the Hank Williams fans in Europe and Australia are going to be thrilled to hear all the music coming directly from where Hank grew up?
“We’re going to do the first half of the show just like they did when Dad and E. T. (Ernest Tubb) did it when they came over after finishing up at the Opry. It will be kind of loose, with the other entertainers being able to offer comments and jokes.
“During the second half of the performance, it will be all music and lots of singing. The entire show will be music-driven, but I’m hoping I can get all the other entertainers to share their memories.
“I’ve had the honor of performing with all these entertainers, and they are my friends as well. We’re going to create a music memory for everyone.
“Jimmy (Fortune) has played with the Statler Brothers. Jim Ed Brown has one of the best voices of any singer. And Razzy Bailey was a music pioneer. But Helen Cornelius is my favorite female singer.
“She is so masterful. Not only does she sing, but she is an excellent piano player. I’m hoping I can get her to play a couple songs on the piano. Every song Helen and the others will be singing is known to the audience. Each singer has their own distinctive style.
“It will make a wonderful experience, because with the fans in the audience already loving the songs, they will get be part of the “real thing.”
“The one thing all the singers have in common is that Hank Williams was their icon. They all related to him in their personal careers.
“All I can say is, don’t miss it.”
